Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Hulu.
Intern
The interview process involved two phone interviews, followed by a lengthy two-hour session with four managers. They seem to interview many highly qualified candidates for a limited number of roles. While everyone was friendly and open to questions, the process felt long and difficult for students who are also working and have limited free time. Compared to more established media companies, it felt a bit unprofessional, but based on past reviews, they are working on improvements.

Intern
First up was a 20-minute phone chat with a recruiter to see why I wanted the job. Then, I had a 30-minute phone call with a marketing manager. She talked about the role and what the team does, and then asked about my skills that would help the team. She also gave me a quick math problem to check my computation skills. Finally, I went for an hour-long on-site interview with the same manager and other team members. We talked about my resume and past work, and basically got to know each other to see if it was a good match.
- What's your go-to Excel function?
Intern
The interview process started with a phone screen. After that, there were 4 rounds with Project Managers. I successfully passed the first 3 rounds. However, in the 4th round, they told me I didn't have enough work experience and were looking for someone with more experience, which was confusing given they interviewed me in the first place.
- Can you describe a situation using the STAR method?
