First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Hulu.
Financial Analyst
So, a recruiter hit me up first for a quick chat. Then, they sent over this case study, which was pretty involved and I had less than an hour to wrap it up. I felt like I bombed it, but apparently not, because the hiring manager then called me for another interview. After that, I was invited for a 4-hour onsite with a bunch of people from senior analysts to directors. Honestly, it felt like a bit much because everyone kept asking the same questions, so I found myself repeating myself a lot. It was weird because half the interviewers weren't even directly related to the role. Some candidates mentioned the team was really welcoming, but I had the opposite vibe with some of the interviewers – like they were rushed or just not interested from the start, some were even on their phones. I was super hyped about getting further in the process for this company known for its culture, but after this, I'm not so sure. The recruiter ghosted me after the interview, even though I emailed them. The only way I found out I didn't get the job was when the position disappeared from their website.
- Can you describe how you would create this spreadsheet, including its contents?
Financial Analyst
Applied to Hulu in March, got a call in May for a Financial Analyst role. Everyone was super friendly and positive, but the process took ages because I'd hear nothing for weeks and had to chase them. Took until the end of June. Had three phone interviews and a 2-hour Skype call with four people. They kept saying I was a great fit and smart. Then they set up a final phone call, which I thought meant I got it, but they said no. I moved on, but two months later (end of August) they called again about another position I'd be perfect for. Same thing happened, even more convincing this time. Now it's November, I turned down four other jobs waiting for Hulu, and I have nothing. So nice, but very deceiving and it really hurt.
- How can you incorporate your technical skills into an answer, even if not directly asked?
Financial Analyst
It was a straightforward process, and the recruiters were very welcoming. I had an initial phone conversation, followed by a two-hour in-person interview at their office with four members of the finance team, with each person speaking to me for about 20 minutes. The questions were primarily behavioral, focusing on my previous work experience. It wasn't overly difficult, but having solid answers for each question was important.
