I was surprised the day of the interview that my first interview was going to be a video conference. It was difficult to connect but not as difficult as my second interview, which was in-person but she was typing behind her laptop the entire time, even after she asked me a question and hadn’t answered yet. It was very rude and unnerving. I’d imagined a tech company like Hulu would think out of the box but I found the interview process to be very stiff, stale and structured despite their random “fun” questions.

The interview process was thorough and engaging, though it took a while. It started with a brief phone interview, and then a week later, I had an in-office interview with about 4-5 employees. The in-office part lasted almost 3 hours. The questions asked were mostly what I expected, pretty standard, but some required me to recall past situations and give really specific examples. They seemed really focused on whether I'd be a good fit for the company culture and if my experience level was right for the role, which is super important.

The interview process was sped up by an employee referral. It started with an easy phone interview with the recruiter. Then, there was a difficult in-office interview with four people (the previous CMO assistant, the current CEO assistant, a chief of staff who works closely with the CMO, and the CMO themselves). They all asked the same general questions. I never got a follow-up email about their decision, so I had to ask the referring employee if the position was filled, and it was.
