The first interview was with Mary and it was a blast. We really hit it off. She asked a lot about my background and experience, focusing on my project management knowledge. Mary made the salary range clear: $55-$60K, which is lower than I'm used to. I was told I was moving to the next stage. The second stage was meeting Jane, the Senior Project Manager. We had a lot in common, education-wise. I mentioned I dislike micromanagement and value education and growth, which she agreed with. She ended the meeting saying they'd be in touch. I just heard back from Mary, they decided to go with other candidates who had stronger experience in their current focus areas, despite a lot of interest in the role.

I was initially contacted by a recruiter from LinkedIn, and I also had a personal connection at the company. The interview process involved two phone interviews, followed by a half-day of in-person interviews at their office with various team members. The onsite portion also included a presentation I gave to a panel. After the in-person interviews, I had several follow-up calls with the recruiter to discuss further questions and receive feedback on my performance.

I applied online and got an email to schedule a screening call with HR. The call went great, and she mentioned she'd pass my info to the hiring manager and probably bring me in early the next week. A few days went by and she didn't follow up, even though I followed up with her the following week. After my second follow-up email, I got a reply saying the hiring manager decided to go another way and I wouldn't be interviewed. I thanked her for the update and asked if she could give me some feedback on why my profile wasn't a good fit for the hiring manager, and if there's anything I could do to make a future application more appealing to their team(s)? I was surprised to be ghosted since our call went so well and she said I was an ideal candidate. Again, no response to that request. A few days later, I politely asked for feedback again and still nothing.
