Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Hudson's Bay Company.
Intern
I applied for the summer merchandising internship with Saks in January of 2019 for the following summer. It started with a phone screen with someone from HR and then one interview with a buyer from Saks Off 5th. I was offered the next position within a week of the second interview.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- What is your personal style?
- Can you share an instance where you took ownership of a task or responsibility?
Intern
It was a straightforward interview. They went over my resume and CV. They asked me why I chose to work at HBC and what my expectations were for the role. I was informed about my pay and benefits (which are none). More details about the job were also provided. It was a one-on-one interview, not a group one. The interview was held in a meeting room on the main floor. I had to check in at the main security desk and was given a name tag.
- What prompted you to apply to HBC?
Intern
The interview was a great learning experience. Most questions were about my resume, the company, and some general topics. It was a very interesting one-on-one interview.
- Tell me about your strengths.
- What about your weaknesses?
- Can you describe your experience?
