Hubs Software Engineer Interview Questions

After applying I got an email to set up an introduction interview. This was about half an hour and was based on general personality questions and way of thinking. Then I had a second interview with a software engineer for more technical stuff, but it was pretty easy since it was an internship. After that, they sent me a 2-hour online assessment to complete within a week. The assessment was pretty simple but involved Python (backend) and React (frontend), and I wasn't familiar with React, so I couldn't finish the frontend part. Even though I failed, I had a half-hour call with the software engineer to discuss it.

The whole interview thing took about a month and a half, plus the visa stuff took like 6 weeks. The recruiter from 3D Hubs was really cool and respectful, checking if I'd fit the company vibe. They were super fast with communication, always updating me on where things stood. Here's how it went down: First, a chat with the recruiter to see if my career aims matched 3D Hubs. Then, the engineers looked at my resume to see if they were interested. Next up was a take-home assignment, supposed to take 4 hours, but you could spend more time if you wanted to add extra features like a web interface, as long as you showed you were productive and could meet deadlines. After that, I had an online technical interview with one of their engineers. They asked about choices I made in the home project, my background, and some tech questions based on my past experiences. If that went well and they thought I was a good cultural fit, I had a 30-minute online chat with the Director of Engineering. This wasn't strictly technical, but they might throw in a few questions to gauge my thinking and problem-solving style. Then came the onsite interviews with several engineers. I met the recruiter, the Director, and the engineer from the previous round. We had some snacks and I even met their dog, Quentin! I did two technical interviews that day, each with a couple of engineers, asking about my background and any tech skills relevant to their teams. The final chat was with the Director and recruiter to discuss salary, visa needs, benefits, bonuses, and OKRs. They even asked if I preferred backend, frontend, or fullstack. They covered my flights and hotel for the onsite since I was living abroad. Finally, you get an offer! They also covered my visa, flights to Amsterdam, and 30 days of accommodation. They asked for referrals, sending an email to them with questions about my past work.

Applied and then had a written test. No feedback or review after the test. Just got rejected via email. It was a bad experience and felt like a waste of time. Even after emailing for feedback, there were no follow-ups. I completed all the requirements.
