Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at HUB International.
Accountant
So, the whole thing was like four rounds. First was a call with this company that does the hiring for them. Then I had calls with the supervisors where we talked about technical stuff, my past jobs, and what this role entails. The third round was also with supervisors and managers, and they hit me with more technical questions, some about how I'd handle situations, and others specific to the job. The last interview was with supervisors and the VP, mainly focusing on leadership qualities and how I handle different scenarios. All this time, HR was keeping tabs, making sure everything was going smoothly, and setting up the next steps.
- Tell me about yourself and the roles/responsibilities you've had in prior positions.
- Can you discuss your experience with balance sheets, balance sheet reconciliation, bank reconciliations, and ERP systems?
- How do you approach team management, communication with senior management, resolving team conflicts, and handling high-pressure situations?

The interview process was super easy and convenient, all done over Zoom. I chatted with two supervisors and the VP for about 30 minutes. The manager hopped on halfway through. They all introduced themselves and their roles. They asked me questions, but I kind of covered most of them in the 'tell me about yourself' part. We finished up with some fun stuff like favorite cereal and dream trips. Talking with the manager felt a bit like repeating myself, but they asked a lot about my work ethic and future goals. I had a feeling I'd get an offer before we even finished. I told them I'd accept if offered, and I did. It was easy for me, but might be tough if you're not comfortable talking about yourself and your career achievements. Just smile, be professional, ask questions to show your interest, and remember you're interviewing them too to see if it's a good fit for you.
- What are your future aspirations?
Accounting Associate
I got a phone call from a recruiter first, and then they set me up for an in-person interview with three supervisors. I was supposed to meet with two different teams in separate interviews, but it ended up being all three supervisors at once during one interview session.
- What do you want in a new role?
- How familiar are you with Excel?
- Can you share an instance where you had to tackle a complex problem and what steps you took?
