First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Howmet Aerospace.
Process Engineer
Got an email for a Teams call, audio only, no camera. Figured it was just a screening, but it felt like a real interview. They said they'd let me know about next steps. I didn't hear back, so I followed up. They said the process was taking longer than expected and they'd update me when done. Never heard back though.
- Why do you think you're a good candidate for this role?
Continuous Improvement Engineer
The interview started with a quick 30-minute online chat asking general questions about my background and what I'm interested in. After that, I had an on-site interview. This included two panel interviews where we dove deeper into my experience. They also asked a lot of questions about my personality and how I work. I got a tour of the facilities too. The team seemed really nice and seemed to really care about seeing if I'd be a good fit.
- Can you tell me about your strengths and weaknesses?
- Describe a situation where you experienced failure and explain your response.
- Which accomplishments give you the most pride?
Manufacturing Engineer
I had a pretty bad interview experience. The HR person didn't even meet with me, so I ended up having two separate one-on-one interviews by myself in a closed room, which felt unsafe. I went through several interview rounds, and they kept asking me the same questions, making me feel disrespected. A lot of the interview was just them quizzing me on my resume, like they thought I lied about my skills. They'd ask the same thing multiple times to try and catch me in a lie and would downplay what I knew. This is wild because they reached out to me, and I wasn't even actively looking. After all that, they gave me a super low-ball offer and said the experience they offer is more important than pay.
