Software Engineer
It was a pretty smooth, two-month process, and the recruiter was great with communication. They had an initial chat to get to know me with some basic questions, and then they invited me to the technical interview, making sure I was ready.
- Could you explain MVC?
- What do you understand by OOP?
- Can you describe the SOLID Principles?
Software Engineer
It all started with an email from HR to set up a first chat about my experience, which was nice. A week later, I had my second interview, a live coding challenge with two engineers where I had to share my screen. That part felt easy and went well. Fast forward a month (thanks, holidays!), and I got to the final stage: two onsite interviews, each lasting 3.5 hours. First, I chatted with the director of the area who talked about the squad and his management style, which was also enjoyable. Then came the first onsite interview, where I had to build a small API. An hour and a half later, in the second interview, I tackled an algorithmic problem. Three days after that, HR sent an email asking if I wanted to discuss things further over the phone. I replied, but haven't heard anything since. Getting ghosted is the worst, and I really wish I knew the decision and got some feedback on areas for improvement. Some suggestions: 1. For referral candidates, provide more details about the role upfront. 2. For onsite interviews, use more realistic problems related to the company's daily work instead of generic LeetCode-style questions. PS: Please don't ghost candidates; it ruins an otherwise pleasant process.
- Can you tell me about your background?
- Can you discuss your most recent work project?
- Could you elaborate on the details mentioned in your CV?
Software Engineer
I sent in my application online and heard back for an initial screening call about a week later. It was a standard call where I got to learn a bit more about the company. The next week, I had a culture fit call with two engineers. Just a heads up, this 'culture fit' call is basically a one-hour, one-way STAR questions session with very little actual conversation. You get about 10 minutes at the end to ask your questions. I got feedback pretty quickly that I didn't quite meet their 'ideal candidate' criteria. I'm not sure why engineers handle this instead of HR, seems a bit strange.
- Can you provide an example of a situation you encountered and what you did?
- Describe a time when you had to accomplish something.
- When have you been in a situation where you did something specific?
