So you do this video interview thing first, you click a link and it's timed. You get a question, have 15 seconds to prep, then the camera records you. Then there's a group interview with icebreakers and quick one-on-one chats about your availability and experience. After that, you have a one-on-one with the Visual Manager. They email you to prep two mood-boards for two House of Fraser customers. In the interview, there's a general competency section, then a chat about your mood-boards and the brand. Finally, you do a practical bit where they take you to two mannequins and you have to dress them to match the customers from your mood-boards.

I applied for a job in a different location but they ended up considering me for this one instead. It started with a quick phone chat where they asked why I was leaving my current role and what I was looking for in terms of hours. The interviewer explained some of the job's duties and checked if I was still keen, which I was, so she then set up an interview. For the next stage, I had to create two mood boards based on customer profiles: 'Fashion Lover' and 'Quality Classic'. I had to figure out what those themes meant myself, which was a bit tricky! The interview itself involved scenario questions and then discussing my mood boards, and it lasted about an hour. Following that, I had 45 minutes to style a male and female mannequin so they complemented each other, choosing outfits based on either 'Fashion Lover' or 'Quality Classic'. After I explained my outfit choices, we went back to an office space. They asked about my availability and any holidays I had planned, and then it was my turn to ask questions.

I interviewed with the Regional visual Merchandiser, and we talked about some mood boards I'd prepared. About half the interview, she focused on explaining the current team dynamics, the role, and other related topics. She inquired if I had completed a management course, and upon my negative response, she commented that my discussion of commerciality and business showed a strong management mindset.
