I got there on time but ended up waiting for like 20 minutes. The place itself was really nice, but it felt kinda chaotic and like they were rushing through everything. The hiring manager was super nice though, and went over what the job was about. They asked some pretty basic questions.

It was a quick and straightforward process. First, we completed some paperwork to confirm our schedules. Then, there was an interview where they asked questions about work situations. It was very friendly and informative. They also told us about the benefits, and at the end, we had a chance to ask some questions, which I did.

I was given a project to design a new range for the upcoming season. This included trend analysis, and creating sketches, CADs, and tech packs for at least six partywear outfits. I wasn't hired, but I've seen the same job ad posted three months apart, twice now. It makes me wonder if they're using interviews for free work since I know at least two other designers also did this and didn't get the job. Posting it again once is understandable, but three times at regular intervals is suspicious. Other womenswear designer interviews show a similar experience.

Presentation

I applied online for a designer job. The recruiter contacted me because she liked my CV and portfolio. She gave me a brief for a small capsule collection, specifying a colour palette and trends. I was excited, so I developed the project. The recruiter was initially impressed, but after a week, she changed her mind, saying the project wasn't as good as others presented by candidates. They apparently found someone else, but I suspect they don't really want to fill the position and instead want designers to work for free and give them ideas. They wanted ideas and designs they could steal, and I found proof online: they used one of my designs, a shape I presented during the interview, and it's now live. It's a house of shame!
