I had an initial call with an HR consultant, and they set up a phone interview with a Senior Engineer. This first technical chat focused on my background and experience. Then, I was invited for an onsite interview. Unfortunately, I was late due to bad traffic, even after notifying them an hour ahead. I was delayed an additional 15 minutes trying to find the building. The onsite consisted of 4 rounds: a Senior Engineer asking basic questions, an Architect discussing my past projects and their architecture, a Project Manager asking about my general experience, and a Director who questioned me on making technical stack choices. The rejection cited my lateness and underperformance, and I suspect they weren't sure what they wanted.

Behavioral Technical

I had a really bad job search experience. It started with an HR screen where they asked if I was in the Bay Area and wanted me to attend a job fair the next day. I couldn't make it due to a scheduling conflict. We then planned a technical phone interview for the following week. I tried to reach the recruiter multiple times, but they were unresponsive. Despite this, they scheduled a Skype interview with engineers. However, the interview was cancelled just an hour after I received the confirmation, likely because they had already hired enough people from the job fair. I suspect they were keeping me as a backup and no longer needed me after another candidate accepted an offer. While I understand this happens, their approach felt disrespectful of my time.

Behavioral Technical System Design

It was a pretty long process. First, there was a phone interview, and then I had five onsite interviews. These interviews were with people in various roles, including a software engineer, a product director, and a senior system architect. The whole thing, from when the recruiter first reached out to when I got the offer, took about a month and a half.
