First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Hotwire.
Senior Software Engineer
I had an initial call with an HR consultant, and they set up a phone interview with a Senior Engineer. This first technical chat focused on my background and experience. Then, I was invited for an onsite interview. Unfortunately, I was late due to bad traffic, even after notifying them an hour ahead. I was delayed an additional 15 minutes trying to find the building. The onsite consisted of 4 rounds: a Senior Engineer asking basic questions, an Architect discussing my past projects and their architecture, a Project Manager asking about my general experience, and a Director who questioned me on making technical stack choices. The rejection cited my lateness and underperformance, and I suspect they weren't sure what they wanted.

Marketing Analyst
I was first reached out to by a recruiter for this gig, and then someone from the marketing team got in touch. They gave me a call and we chatted for about 30 minutes about the usual stuff: why I'm interested, what skills I've got that fit, why I want to work at Hotwire, and so on. Then, about a week later, I went in for an in-person interview where I met with four different people, each for about 30 minutes. I'd seen some reviews, so I prepped hard – looked into Hotwire's history, thought about tricky questions they might ask, and got specific examples of my work ready, along with areas for improvement. But surprise, surprise, most of that wasn't even touched on! It was the same basic questions over and over about my background, skills, and interests. Not even one deep dive into technical skills for an analyst job. The company itself seems legit and well-run, but I've heard the employee morale isn't great. I would have loved to join them, but oh well, that's life!

Analyst
My recruiting experience with Hotwire was fair, thorough, and super fast. First, I had a 35-min phone screen with the hiring manager where we talked about my resume and some technical stuff, pretty much half and half. It felt like they wanted to see how I think analytically and deal with ambiguous problems. Some brain teasers were thrown in which could be tricky under pressure. A couple days later, I had an onsite interview with HR, senior managers, and execs. The questions felt fair - a mix of behavioral, technical, and industry knowledge. At times, it felt more like a chat than an interview, and the interviewers were really humble, friendly, smart, and down-to-earth. I got an offer two days later and accepted it after a day of negotiation. Honestly, this has been one of the most efficient and fair interview processes I've been through.

Engineer
It took about 10 interviews to land at Hotwire. The overall experience was really good – the interviewers were friendly, asked professional questions, and gave quick feedback and guidance for the next steps. Some interviews felt more like casual chats than formal job interviews, but I guess it helped them form a perception. Either way, I'm happy I got through!
