First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Hospital Santa Marcelina.
Nurse
I registered on the hospital's website, and a few days later, they scheduled an online test with a date and time. After passing, I was emailed and messaged via WhatsApp for a face-to-face interview with a psychologist. They asked me to bring all my documents, which they just reviewed and marked off a list. The psychologist asked general questions about my experiences, preferences, and availability. Five days later, I received positive feedback via email and WhatsApp. I was then called for a technical interview. The interview was delayed by 40 minutes. There were 9 of us, and we had to wear white as it was in a room inside the hospital. The interviewers were a nursing manager and a nursing supervisor. They arranged us alphabetically in a semi-circle and alternated the starting side for each question.
- Could you introduce yourself?
- Can you name an assistance protocol?
- What is an international goal?

The interview process started with a group session where we filled out some forms and showed our documents. We were told to arrive by 7:50 AM, but the recruiter only started at 9 AM because of an issue with the coordinator and nursing supervisor. So, we only had the interview with the recruiter that day. It seems like the group interview and the management interview are done on the same day. The recruiter asked about us, where we live, commute time to the hospital, our experiences (or internships if we didn't have prior jobs), why we chose nursing, hobbies, and what caught our attention about the job. Then, she asked everyone questions like: What skills do you think a nurse needs? How would you handle two technicians arguing in front of patients? What would you do if a technician was struggling with a task? How would you apply an educational leadership style in practice? After this, she said we'd hear back within 7 business days. The next part was the interview with the management team, where we didn't fill out anything and they were very punctual. The Nursing Coordinator and Manager were present. I thought it should have started when both were there, but one left, and the coordinator began. When the other returned, she asked questions we'd already answered, but oh well. We introduced ourselves as before, and then they asked: How many international patient safety goals are there? Each of us had to name one and explain how it's applied daily. We also had to discuss a hospital protocol. They asked what we'd do if only 3 out of 7 scheduled technicians showed up for a shift with 35 patients. We were asked about priorities at the start of a shift and our leadership style. When it ended, they asked if we had questions and said we'd get a response within 7 business days.
- What are the essential competencies you believe a nurse must possess?
- If you witnessed two technicians arguing in front of patients, what would be your course of action?
- What would be your approach if a technician was facing difficulties with a task?
Nurse
It was chill, questions focused on you, like how would you act if you saw a colleague preparing the wrong medication, tell me about your experiences, if you have any, which department do you identify with the least, and why did you choose Santa Marcelina, vision mission and values.
- Can you tell me about your internship, considering you don't have prior experience?
- How would you react if you observed a colleague preparing medication incorrectly?
- What are your experiences in the field?
