Product Manager
The interview process wasn't great. I wanted to share this review in case others have a bad experience, so you know it's not you. The first two stages (Recruiter screen and Hiring Manager interview) were good. But then in the third round, I talked to someone from the larger team. My interviewer seemed unprepared, and the interview format was totally different from what the recruiter had told me. It was hard to follow their questions, even when I asked for clarification, and the thought exercises weren't well-planned and felt all over the place. Honestly, it felt like the interview was set up to fail from the beginning.

Product Manager
So, Hopper's hiring manager and team are looking for someone to help brainstorm solutions, but it seems like they're not actually planning to hire anyone. The hiring manager on the call said some really nice things, like 4-5 positive comments, and felt like I was there in person. They even said I have great product intuition and that my idea for the prioritized solution was the same one the team came up with last week. Then, just an hour after the interview, I got a rejection email. I tried asking why I didn't move forward, but they ghosted me. Honestly, this whole process is a joke. They also mentioned $100 in carrot cash for the screening, but that's clearly a lie. They just seem to waste people's time and don't value candidates.
- Tell me about a product sense question related to a problem Hopper is trying to solve.
- How would you validate solutions that Hopper is brainstorming for their business?
Product Manager
The interview process was really well put together and comprehensive. They were super clear about what to expect in each stage, and kept me in the loop about timelines and what they were looking for. They got back to me really fast and kept me updated on my application status, which made me feel like they valued my time and interest and wanted to move things along. The interview questions and problems were interesting and challenging, but also directly related to the role, giving me a good idea of the types of problems I'd be tackling. I enjoyed all the conversations I had with the team members; they were engaging and informative, and everyone seemed really passionate and invested in finding the right person for the job.
- For the case study, what are the associated risks and challenges with the proposal, what is the business model, what levers can be used, and how would you plan to improve it?
- What improvements would you make to Hopper, and what are some new ideas for Hopper?
