It's rare to experience good interview processes these days, but they did a great job. They provide all of the tools you need to succeed in the interview process, they give feedback, and you get a sense that they want all their candidates to succeed. Everyone was very pleasant to talk to, overall it was a positive experience despite not walking away with an offer

Technical Coding Case Presentation

I went through a bunch of interviews with Hopper, like 5 in total, but didn't end up getting an offer. The first interview was followed by a homework assignment that I thought was pretty cool. Each part of the assignment felt like it was related to real stuff they were doing at Hopper. I was moved around to different teams to see where I'd fit best, and eventually had a remote interview with a VP. I might have messed up some answers since I didn't get the job. Because the process took so long and the homework problems were kind of specific, I can't help but feel like they might have been using applicants for ideas, like getting free consulting. Or maybe I'm just bummed I didn't get the role ;)

Behavioral Technical Coding

Started with a quick chat about my background and interests, and the job. Then I got a take-home task, which was basically their business problem and I could take as much time as I wanted. I sent it back after a few days and then went in for the on-site. The on-site interview was a bit of a curveball with 2-3 whiteboard questions, which were essentially logic and probability puzzles. This last part wasn't great because (a) these kinds of whiteboard riddles don't really mirror the day-to-day work of a data scientist (I haven't seen any in my actual job...), and (b) it made me wonder about the team's culture (it felt like a 'smarter than you' vibe, which isn't my thing).
