First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Hong Kong Hospital Authority.
IT Student Intern
The interview was in-person in Kwun Tong and lasted about 20 minutes. There were three interviewers, and the interview was conducted in Cantonese. They asked about my preferences for the job function as it was uncertain before accepting the offer.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- Why do you want to work in HA?
- Tell me about any data analytical projects you have completed.
IT Intern
For an IT internship, you usually start by sending in your application and resume, and they'll check it to see if you've got the right stuff. After that, there's often a technical test, maybe some coding problems or puzzles to check your skills. Then, you'll probably have a couple of interviews where they want to see how you work with others and if you'd fit in. They might ask you about times you've dealt with tough situations. If they like you, you could have a final chat with some team leads or managers about projects and how you'd mesh with the company's plans. Feel free to ask them anything about the job, the team, or how things work here.
- In the fast-changing healthcare IT sector, how do you keep up with new tech and trends?
Finance Manager
Applied online and was asked for a written test and interview. Completed a computerized written test, wrote something online, and did some secondary-level math questions. Was asked for a recommendation on a current social issue. They checked all my certificates, including my secondary level 5 exam report. The interview panel, all women, asked if I currently have a job and why I applied for this one, and what my strengths are (all in English, even though we all speak Chinese). Better than the Head Office panel meeting, these people are more human.
- Can you explain why you are interested in this position?
- Are you currently employed?
- What would you consider your greatest strengths to be?
Software Engineer
We started with a video call to get connected. Then, I did a self-introduction, talking about my background, interests, and career goals, trying to show my personality and skills. After that, I had to explain why I wanted to work at this company, showing I did my research on their mission and products and how my goals align. Then came some technical questions to check my problem-solving skills and expertise. We also talked about my past work experience, highlighting achievements and skills learned. Finally, they asked about university projects, focusing on my role, contributions, and outcomes.
- Can you explain the differences between MySQL and PostgreSQL?
