So I cleared the first few rounds, and then had this interview with the Hiring Manager. It was a total letdown though. She was super condescending and dismissive. Instead of actually talking about technical stuff or how I did my past projects, she just kept asking about my personal contribution, like if I really did the work or if others did it. It felt more like an interrogation than a technical chat. Honestly, it felt like she distrusted people from my background from the get-go. It was really demotivating to have my 5+ years of experience questioned like that. Now I get why the job's been open forever. I'm blacklisting this company, so be careful if you're thinking about this AI team.

I was asked to set availability for an interview and they said they would send an invite afterward. I put in a 1-hour block of availability and let them know I did. I didn't hear back, so a few days before the block, I followed up asking about not receiving an invite. Still heard nothing. The block passed, and there was radio silence for 3 weeks. Then, suddenly, the recruiter followed up to see if I was still interested and offered the same option of giving my availability with no lock-in. After considering it, I decided it wasn't worth it after being ghosted. Suggestion for Recruiters: If you ask for someone's availability and they give it to you, follow up with them. Don't ghost them and expect you can just come back several weeks later and act like nothing happened. This isn't a dating experience.

I was contacted by a recruiting manager on LinkedIn about Honeycomb's strategy and how I could fit/lead in those efforts as a CSM. I said I was interested in hearing more and sent my availability. A few days later, I got an email scheduling an interview for less than 24 hours later. I wasn't looking, but I'm always open to new opportunities, so I thought, 'what could a conversation hurt?'. I joined what I thought would be a conversation, but the recruiter started firing off interview questions. I was totally caught off guard. She asked me multiple questions about why I was looking for a new role, even though I'd told her I wasn't and that she had reached out to me. You could tell the questions weren't personalized and were just from a basic list. The whole experience left a bad impression, and I honestly stopped caring and decided halfway through that I wasn't interested in this company.

The Hiring Manager reached out to me on LinkedIn and then connected me with the recruiter. I had a phone call with the recruiter which went well. I could tell the company was diverse and cared about DEI and having a healthy work culture. My next interview was a 45-minute video call with the HM. It was a laid-back interview, not too formal or stuffy. They were very personable and honest. The company seems to really value UX. I didn't make it to the next round, but overall it was a pleasant experience. I'm not sure what the rest of the interview process looks like because the HM mentioned they were changing it a bit and hadn't yet finalized the process.
