Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Honda Performance Development.
Engineer
The interview process involved three stages. First, a 'Tell me about yourself' question. Second, a question asking you to describe your past work. Third, a question to gauge your fit concerning time and commitment expectations.
- Are you comfortable with the expectation that engineers must be able to make changes on the fly with minimal notice and complete them in time for the next morning's car race?
- Tell me about yourself.
- Walk me through some of your previous projects or work.
Design Engineer
I initially spoke with a recruiter in early January regarding this role. Then, in the second week of January, I had a phone interview with Joanne, which was a basic screening about my resume, work history, and education. I thought it was pretty standard. I was expecting to hear back in about a week, but it actually took two weeks to find out I'd be scheduled for an interview with the hiring manager. After that, I didn't hear anything for several weeks, despite reaching out to the recruiter multiple times. I also noticed several postings for what seemed to be the same job elsewhere. Eventually, more than a month after my first interview, the recruiter informed me that I wasn't selected, even though I never actually interviewed with the hiring manager.
- Can you discuss your experience in your previous position or role?
Performance Engineer
Had an initial phone chat with HR, then went on to a MS Teams interview with some of the group's technical leads. They asked standard questions about the role, plus my personal goals and ambitions. Everyone was on time and ready to go.
- Can you describe your previous experience and how it aligns with this role?
- What are your career aspirations?
