The interview process involved three stages. First, a 'Tell me about yourself' question. Second, a question asking you to describe your past work. Third, a question to gauge your fit concerning time and commitment expectations.

I had a phone interview where I talked about my resume with the recruiter and the hiring manager. We talked about the role and some specifics from my background. That call was about 30 minutes. A couple days later, the recruiter emailed me asking if I could come to Santa Clarita for an in-person interview. I flew out a couple weeks later and met with the recruiter, supervisor, and chief engineer. It was pretty similar to the phone call, just with one extra person. The whole in-person part took a couple of hours, and they even took me to lunch.

I applied through the Honda career portal. After about a month, the HR manager called me for an initial interview lasting about 35-45 minutes. We talked about my resume, why I lived in LA instead of Santa Clarita, and the salary range ($100k max). She also wondered about my experience in large corporations since Honda's finance group is small. She said I'd hear back in a couple weeks about speaking with the hiring manager. But a few hours later, she called to set up that call for about a week later. The second call, with both the recruiter and hiring manager, lasted an hour. They reviewed my resume again and focused on my past project and process responsibilities. They seemed concerned I was unemployed but were friendly. They mentioned in-person interviews with senior management the next week. No one contacted me for a couple of weeks, so I followed up. The HR manager said management wouldn't be available that month, or the next, or even the month after that. I never heard back from them after that.

I had an on-site interview where I met with both management and my potential direct reports. The team asked some really good questions, and then we all went out to dinner. I felt like the interview was pretty easy, and I got a good vibe about the company culture at HPD.
