First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Honda of America Mfg..
Mechanical Engineer
The interview was about 45 minutes to an hour. I asked a lot of questions. It started with some basic get to know you questions, then moved on to 3 basic questions all in the STAR format: What is a project you've worked on and what was your engineering process. Name a time you've collaborated with somebody. Something else I don't remember.
- Tell me about a time you collaborated with someone.
Mechanical Engineer
A career agency got me this interview. After completing a Catia test at the agency, I went to Honda for an on-site interview. A single technical engineer interviewed me. They didn't have my resume and asked for a copy during the interview. The whole interview focused on my engineering experience, with only a few behavioral questions.
- Tell me about your responsibilities in your previous XXX experience.
- Have you collaborated with engineers or designers before?
- In your opinion, what is the most crucial element in design?
Mechanical Engineer Intern
So they're pretty quick to get back to you. First, you do this email Q&A thing where you talk about what you're interested in and why you wanna work there. Then, an HR person calls you up. They'll dig a bit more into your personality to see if you'd be a good fit. After that, they'll give you the lowdown on housing and other stuff you'll need for your stay. There are these two tracks: test/support intern or manufacturing intern. Your resume gets sent to other managers who will then reach out. If you've got the skills they need for that specific role, you're pretty much in. My interview was 35 minutes for both of those. It's not too rough, just make sure you explain everything super clearly.
- Can you share a technical detail about a project you were involved in?
