First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Honda Aircraft Company.
Engineer
The interview experience was quite disappointing. The interviewers focused heavily on specific 'trivia' questions, like the strength of particular materials and the exact names of methods, which are typically things one would look up. They touched upon resume items, but only older projects from a couple of years back, not recent work. It felt like they weren't really listening, as they asked about things I'd already covered. When it was my turn to ask questions, they answered the first one and then abruptly ended the interview, preventing further questions. They seemed dismissive of me and my time, and didn't even offer basic pleasantries at the end.
- What is the strength of a particular material?
Engineer
It was a pretty simple interview process. There were 2 rounds. First, I talked to my supervisor on the phone for about half an hour. Then, I had an on-site interview with some other people from the company. They asked me questions about my job knowledge and about my past experience.
- Can you explain how the skills you gained in your previous role apply to this position?
Engineering Co-Op
The interview process was a bit different. It involved two interviewers: a manager who is an engineer and an HR representative. We started with a short quiz on fundamental concepts. After the quiz, the engineer asked questions based on my resume.
- The quiz was unexpected, but HR later mentioned that performance on the quiz was as important as the answers themselves.
