Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Home Instead.
Administrative Assistant
I sent an unsolicited application to the Owner for a new office branch in the West Midlands. She replied, inviting me for an informal chat about my CV and goals. A few months later, she contacted me again about the role and encouraged me to apply formally. She mentioned a formality in the recruitment process, which I felt confident about. The first stage was a phone interview with generic questions about the role and Home Instead Senior Care. The Owner then invited me for a face-to-face interview. Repeating our first meeting, she kept things relaxed yet formal, as expected for a second interview. The recruitment process felt very easy because of my prior healthcare administration experience, which allowed me to provide insight into government regulations and audits. She offered me the position without hesitation.

Office Assistant
I went in for an interview after they invited me. The owner asked me some standard questions and then asked if I had any questions for her. I was surprised that she knew so little about her own agency. It seemed she wasn't involved in the day-to-day operations, just overseeing others' work. It didn't give me a good impression of the company. I know it's a franchise, but this specific office didn't seem to pay much attention to customer service.
- Can you tell me about your experience working with an in-home care agency?
Administrative Assistant
I applied online and had my first interview with the staffing coordinator on a Friday. Then on Tuesday, I interviewed with the general manager. They were both really honest and open during the interviews, and I felt like they were genuinely trying to get to know me, both personally and professionally.
- Can you describe a situation where you encountered a problem with a colleague and how you resolved it?
- Tell me about a task you didn't perform well and what you would do differently next time.
- What key takeaways did you gain from that experience?
