Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Holtec International.
Project Engineer
The first step was a phone screen where we talked about the company and my experience and salary expectations. After that, I had a virtual interview with 5 other project engineers. They went really deep into my experience and also asked other behavioral questions. I waited a month, emailing the recruiter a bunch, before I got rejected.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- Can you elaborate on your past experiences and projects?
- What led you to pursue mechanical engineering?
Engineer
We had two interviews happen online over two weeks, and then one interview happened onsite in Camden, NJ. Everyone was super nice and the interviews were pretty relaxed and focused on personality to see if you'd be a good fit for the team and a team player.
- Standard HR and senior leadership behavioral questions.
Engineer
For the Palisades project, there was a recruiter pre-screen, then a virtual panel interview. The final interview was on-site in Michigan at the plant. Everyone I met there was respectful and professional, and it seemed like they have some solid engineers and management. The company covered flight, hotel, and rental car. The downside is they only offered two dates for the visit and expected me to take a day off work on short notice to travel. I had to travel in on a Sunday and travel back the day after the visit. They didn't seem to consider personal time much and made questionable flight choices without my input. They also stopped communicating after the interview and didn't reimburse travel expenses like mileage, meals, and parking, which are usually covered. It was rude to fly me in, have me use PTO, and get back late, only to be ghosted. It could be a good project for newer people, but be aware they might not contact you after the plant visit.
- Can you share your experience with xyz and any related qualifications aligning with the job description?
