Receiving Inspector
The entire hiring process took me about a month, and it was really smooth and organized from beginning to end. They clearly explained each step, making the whole process straightforward and to the point.
- What's prompting your job search
Project Engineer
The first step was a phone screen where we talked about the company and my experience and salary expectations. After that, I had a virtual interview with 5 other project engineers. They went really deep into my experience and also asked other behavioral questions. I waited a month, emailing the recruiter a bunch, before I got rejected.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- Can you elaborate on your past experiences and projects?
- What led you to pursue mechanical engineering?
Controls Engineer
The hiring manager reached out first, then I spoke with one of three lead engineers at the Palisade Power Plant in Covert, Michigan. Since that went well, I advanced to the final round, which involved meeting the team in person. They covered my travel from California to Michigan for this. I had a good time meeting everyone, but ultimately, they hired other candidates. It was frustrating because the whole process took about two months, and I missed a wedding to attend the final interview, only to be rejected.
- Can you tell me about your background and relevant experience? (behavioral)
- We'd like to go over the job details with you. (informational)
- What are your thoughts on living in Michigan and your long-term plans there? (behavioral)
Project Manager
I met with four people one after the other. Three were project managers and one was the hiring manager. They were all really nice and asked some great questions. A good amount of time was spent explaining the role itself since the nuclear industry isn't something most people easily understand.
- They asked for my GPA, as an entry-level engineer.
- Can you articulate the specific role of this position?
- Can you explain the inner workings of the nuclear industry?
