The interview process was pretty bad. The first round (L1) was only about 30 minutes. The interviewer didn't seem very interested and was checked out the whole time. Instead of talking about practical stuff, he asked really specific and odd questions about process.nextTick and other JavaScript internals that aren't used much in daily coding. I tried my best to answer everything. At one point, we talked about useState, and I explained it and gave a solution that I thought was right, but the interviewer didn't want to discuss it or consider my point. Two days later, the same interviewer called me back to schedule my next round (L2) for that day at 11 AM. I asked him to confirm if it was L2, and he said "Sorry, sorry, I called you by mistake." The call just ended. Later, when I politely asked for an update on my L1 result, I found out I was rejected. All in all, it felt unprofessional and badly handled. Better communication and treating candidates with respect would really improve things.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • What is the difference between process.nextTick() and the event loop in Node.js and JavaScript, and explain the internal working of useState.

Coding Technical Behavioral Case

First, you send in your application and resume. Then, they look at your qualifications, skills, and experience to see if you're a good fit. After that, you'll likely do a technical assessment or a coding challenge to show off your skills and how you solve problems. If they like your performance, you might get invited for some virtual interviews with different people on the team. These interviews will probably include a mix of technical, behavioral, and situational or case-based questions.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • Could you write a program that implements a search algorithm?

Behavioral Technical

I found and applied for the job on Indeed Prime. First, I had a 30-minute HR screening call with someone from HMH. Then, there were two in-person interviews. The first was with a team engineer and a dev lead, and the second was with a senior engineer and an engineering director, all from the team I would be joining. Both were pretty laid-back, and we talked about the job and how my background fit, like my needed Javascript skills, especially ReactJS. Even though I didn't have much Javascript framework experience, I explained how my Salesforce stack development (Apex, VisualForce, SOQL/SOSL) was applicable to other front-end positions. They didn't give me a coding test, but they did review my Github profile.

Confirmed questions3 questions
  • Could you describe your past engineering work experience?
  • Tell me about your background with Javascript and ReactJS.
  • How is your experience in the Salesforce stack transferable to front-end development?
