IT Project Manager
This company really didn't care about anyone's time. A recruiter contacted me on LinkedIn, and after a quick screen and a good interview with the hiring manager, I was told I was a match. The next steps were an online assessment and a second-round panel interview. I aced the assessment. They then said I could fit multiple roles and wanted me to interview for another position too. I agreed. I waited and waited for the next interview to be scheduled. The recruiter said they were reorganizing and having trouble scheduling. We suggested having one panel interview with people from both teams to save time, and they promised it would be set up in a few days with a decision that same week. The interview never happened. The recruiter finally told me they couldn't coordinate internally and ended my candidacy. I was frustrated, and so was the recruiter. It's one thing to not hear back after a phone screen, but to have an interview and then ghost me is unprofessional. And to have me take a long assessment on my own time and then just disappear? That shows they don't value people's time. Would you want to work for a company like that? It might not happen to you, but consider this a red flag.
- What are the standard questions for this position?
Project Manager
After applying, I got a call within two weeks to check if I passed the initial screening and was still interested. If so, I had to do some online competency tests. I got another call after completing those to confirm I passed them. Then, I was invited for an interview that lasted about an hour. They asked a lot of questions about my past work and experience, and also about my personality to see if I'd fit in with Hiscox's culture. They said I'd know by the end of the week about the next steps, but I actually got a call two days later with a job offer!
- Considering how well Lloyds Banking Group has supported your growth and career advancement, what specifically attracted you to apply to Hiscox?
Project Manager
A recruitment consultant reached out, explained the role, and asked me to complete a psychometric test (Watson-Glazer) in my own time before confirming an interview. After that, I had two interviews. The first was with HR and the department manager, focusing on competency-based questions. The second interview was with the potential line manager and the department head, also involving competency-based questions. The whole experience was relaxed and welcoming, with lots of feedback.
