Recruiter
I was contacted by an internal recruiter who set up a meeting with her and the manager because they were looking for a technical recruiter and wanted to meet me. My interview with her went well. We went over my education and work history. She told me about the role and responsibilities. I asked questions and she answered. It was very straightforward and easy. After we finished, she said she'd go get the manager for my technical recruiter interview. I waited in the small, stuffy room for almost thirty minutes before finally talking to the receptionist. I waited another twenty to thirty minutes before he finally came in. He didn't know my name or what my degree was in, even though he had my resume. He didn't ask about my work history or anything. He just sat down and said, "What questions do you have for me?" It was 15 minutes of me pulling questions out of nowhere before he finally said, "I don't think your background fits the position" and suggested I meet with a recruiter from their office (whom I'd met with before for opportunities, none of which were good or what we'd discussed) to build my resume! He was basically trying to sell me their services after giving one of the worst interviews I'd ever had, which was ironic given how their recruiters talk about evaluating their clients' interview processes.
- Can you tell me about your background?
- What was your GPA?
- Do you have any questions for me?
Recruiter
I was referred internally. First, I spoke with a corporate recruiter. Then, I had an onsite interview where I met with the Reston recruiting team and the hiring manager, and also the department VP. The interview process concluded with a visit to the DC office to meet the team there, as that's where the job would be. Everyone was really nice, pleasant, and truly interested in my career path and how working at HS could be a good fit for me.

- What draws you to a career in Recruiting?
- Are you more interested in direct-hire or temporary staffing roles?
Internal Recruiter
Got contacted 2 days after applying. The first interview was super chill and straightforward. The interviewer was really nice and open. We talked about what I was looking for and my background. Then, I met the manager I'd be reporting to. She was great too. The second interview was mainly about seeing if my personality and goals matched the team's. After that, I met with the Internal HR person. So, three interviews all in one day. The company seemed really transparent and like a great place to work, with lots of chances for growth and moving up. Staff seemed friendly and invested in developing new hires. I would have loved to join, but the commute was just too long.
- What makes you a great fit for the position?
