Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Hindustan Petroleum.
Officer
We started with a group task where 8 people were put into a group to discuss and solve a problem together. After that, there was a technical + HR round. The whole interview took about 30 minutes.
- Could you tell me about your internship experience at Reliance?
- What is a thermocouple?
- Do you have knowledge of some basic instrumentation?
Officer
This is about HPCL engineer 2021 recruitment. The process involves a Computer Based Test (CBT) first, then a Group Task (GT) and an interview. GT and interview happened on the same day. All were elimination rounds. CBT had half aptitude and half technical domain questions. GT was pretty standard. To avoid elimination, make sure to talk about the topic. You'll get about 3-4 chances to speak, and it lasts for 15 minutes. Around 40% of candidates get eliminated in GT, and a similar percentage in the interview. This time, the interview was entirely HR-based, but if you have experience, expect some technical questions related to your field. The interview was easy, and language wasn't an issue; you could speak in Hindi or English.
- Can you tell us a bit about your city?
Officer
The interview focused on interpersonal skills, with no technical questions. There's a 50% rejection rate. They don't consider your branch or rank when rejecting. Groups are formed mixed regardless of branch category, etc. Elimination happens at every stage. A group task is followed by an HR interview.
- Given a group of 8, prioritize five issues.
