First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Hilton.
Office Assistant
It was a quick and straightforward process. I had worked there for a couple of years before getting promoted. I really enjoyed my time there and learned a lot from different departments. It was great to have some knowledge about a bit of everything.
- Can you tell me about your time management skills and how you stay organized?
Personal Assistant
I was initially contacted on LinkedIn by an F&B manager about a role at Waldorf Astoria Doha. During the interview, it was explained that the role involved being his right hand as an F&B coordinator with many tasks. However, the offered budget was lower than expected. The manager then suggested I consider the Personal Assistant to the GM role instead, which I agreed to. My CV was forwarded to the HR Director, and I was subsequently interviewed by the HR Director and the General Manager. They were aware of two of my referees from previous director-level positions. Additionally, I interacted with a fourth person, an Assistant HR Manager, who asked me to apply via the website and submit all educational and work-related documents in a PDF format. I also had to provide contact details for three referees and they were sent a long form to complete. The final step involved completing an SHL test, which seemed challenging without practice, especially for an administrative role. This test, along with the rest of the process, felt like I was applying for a Director position. The last interview was with the GM on January 6th. Following that, I submitted my documents, referees' responses, and the test within a week. Three of the interviews were conducted online. I didn't receive any feedback for about four weeks. On February 3rd, I inquired about the recruitment status and received a rejection email the same day, stating they had found another candidate. I later learned the GM I interviewed with had a personal website that seemed ordinary, despite being presented as digitally oriented. The website featured a picture of him with ladies' arms and hands touching his tie, which I found odd and concerning.
- Can you discuss your previous experience?
- What kind of tasks did you handle in your past roles?
- What is your approach to management?
Executive Assistant
I had a phone interview with Mandy in HR from Corporate. It lacked robust questions. I also felt like she had two things going on at once and I was the least priority. So much so, that I paused and she kept saying, go on.. She also was too focused on on how much experience I had on planning international travel. It was like she could not get past that. I couldn't help but think how sad for the executive she is recruiting for as she didn't know the right questions to ask and had no knowledge of what a great seasoned EA can bring to the table.
- What percentage of your experience has been in international travel booking?
