Hilti North America Logistics Coordinator Interview Questions
& Process

After finishing grad school part-time, I heard about a couple Hilti openings for logistics grads from my business school. I applied and interviewed for a few different "Logistics Specialist" jobs. Just so you know, this is a really general title at Hilti, and a Logistics Specialist can actually mean like 5 different things with a huge pay range. It kicked off with 5 phone interviews: an HR prescreen, a meet-and-greet with a Sr. Director hiring manager, and then a phone interview with that same Sr. Director. This whole thing was repeated later by a different Sr. Director, minus the prescreen. All the calls were pretty standard, lasting 30-60 mins, and mostly behavioral questions and going over my resume. Honestly, it felt a bit easier than I'm used to, which might have been misleading. The communication at this company seemed really off, since neither Sr. Director knew the other had contacted me, even though they were right next to each other. I guess the phone interviews went okay because I was invited to Tulsa for in-person interviews... twice. I asked if it could be done in one day, but they said no. They wanted me to pay for my own travel, which was fine even though it wasn't that far. Both times in Tulsa, I had these 4-hour marathon interviews where different managers would come in and out. I did appreciate that they didn't grill me or nitpick every answer, but it also felt a bit like we were just going through the motions because it lacked substance, was standard Q&A, and the interviewers seemed unprepared, asking stuff that should have been obvious from my resume and the phone calls. This was all despite them telling me multiple times I was a top candidate and it would be worth my time, talking up the international experience they could offer. I never got an offer, but I was apparently 1st or 2nd runner-up. After they enthusiastically said I'd know in a week, weeks went by with only one email response to my inquiries saying they still hadn't decided, with no reason for the delay. About 2 months after my last interview, I called HR to withdraw my application since I needed to renew my lease locally. It was only then that the HR lady from the initial call told me I wasn't chosen, without any explanation.

After applying online for a Logistics Specialist role, I was contacted by HR for an initial phone interview. This 30-minute call covered basic, topical behavioral questions, and my responses were typed and recorded. Soon after, I was contacted by two different Sr. Directors about unrelated Logistics Specialist/Analyst positions, which seemed a bit disorganized as they both thought they had posted the same role. One role focused more on domestic transport and carrier selection, while the other was more analytical, involving purchasing, supply chain, and sales forecasting. Both directors followed a similar process: an initial 30-minute get-to-know-you call, followed by a more formal 30-minute phone interview that revisited earlier topics or delved deeper into my answers. Both then invited me to their HQ in Tulsa, OK. Reluctantly, I traveled there at my own expense (twice, as they said both positions couldn't be interviewed in one day) for a marathon of four 1-hour interviews each time. These interviews included people from various levels and departments. The process felt encouraging, and I was told I'd hear back within a week. Despite liking the job descriptions, international opportunities, and pay, I never received an offer. After a week of silence, I got an email saying a decision hadn't been made. Another week passed, and I still heard nothing. I sent more emails and left voicemails. A month after my last interview, I called, upset about the lack of communication. The next day, the original HR rep called back, stating they chose other candidates but I was the runner-up. The whole experience involved significant time and money with poor communication and no clear feedback.

The interview had a 30 minute phone call first, then a longer video interview. The interviewers were nice and asked good questions. I got a response quickly.
