First, a screening interview with the HR partner. If that goes well, then an interview with the direct manager. They asked a lot of situation and scenario questions about working on a team, giving presentations, and managing a territory. Also, some technical engineering aptitude questions, like experience with anchors, firestop, or pins.

Had a phone call with HR. They asked a bunch of behavioral questions. Make sure you have a leadership example ready. It wasn't too hard. They also asked about your career plans and what you're looking for at Hilti.

Behavioral Technical Other

The interview process felt really unprofessional and humiliating. I ended up having 7 interviews in total, including 2 in-person ones, for jobs I didn't even apply for. It took months of phone interviews and a personality test before I finally had a face-to-face interview in May, which was in a not-so-clean warehouse. A couple of weeks later, I followed up with the interviewer, and he just rejected me over the phone, saying he was going to offer the job to someone else. Then, a few months later, I applied for a 'Construction laser specialist' position through The Ladders, not realizing it was Hilti. A different HR person called me and had me interview at their NJ headquarters with two people: the interviewer from the first one-on-one and the new HR rep. Turns out, the person they initially rejected me for had turned down their offer, and they wanted to re-interview me for that Field Engineer role. I wasn't really interested in that specific job, but I was willing to consider it to get employed. I tried to show I was a team player who could help the company grow. After an hour and a half, I thought the interview went well and didn't expect another rejection. I followed up with HR a few days later about a decision. The next day, the same interviewer who rejected me in May emailed me again in August with the same reason: they found another candidate. This whole experience was totally unprofessional. I spent almost $200 on gas and tolls for those two interviews. I shouldn't have had to go through two interviews for jobs I didn't want just to be rejected TWICE. I presented my qualifications for the job I applied for, but they pushed me into a job I didn't want and then rejected me for it. They are not upfront with candidates and ask a lot of probing questions, even about things unrelated to the job's technical aspects. They wasted my time, and I wouldn't recommend working here. If they play these games before hiring, imagine what it's like once you're employed. I felt like they asked so many questions just to discredit my past achievements and downplay what I could bring to Hilti. Basically, they seem more focused on finding flaws in people than on finding the right person and building a team where people can contribute positively. I agree with others who've said to stay away from Hilti.
