I was invited to an interview which turned out to be a hiring event. It had a lot of other candidates and lasted about 7 hours. I interviewed with several hiring managers and also had to sit through some presentations. This event doesn't guarantee a job offer, so you should be prepared to take 8 hours away from your current job.

I applied in early April and got a call the next day about an Interview/Hiring Event. It was scheduled for a month later, the second weekend in May on a Friday. In the morning, we met and saw presentations about what's done at the Newport News Shipyard and the specific work designers do. Then, we split into two groups (13 of us total). Half went for interviews, and the other half took a bus tour of the yard before reversing the process. After both groups finished interviews and the tour, we had lunch with a final presentation. The hiring manager said we'd get offers by the end of the month. The interviews were standard, asking about me and going over my resume details.
