The interview process began with a call with HR where the recruiter noted my background. This was followed by a technical phone screen with the hiring HR. The final stage was a virtual on-site interview which included two coding challenges, one system design question, and one behavioral question. Everyone I met was friendly and seemed proud of their work at Highspot. The technical recruiter was excellent and represented me well. Although I received an offer, I declined it due to a competing offer that better matched my career goals. Overall, I had a positive experience with the team and company.

The interview started with a recruiter call, where they focused on selling the company rather than asking many questions. Since I was referred by a friend, my experience might differ from others. The second interview was with the hiring manager and included both behavioral and technical parts. The behavioral questions were quite vague, and the technical part involved a medium LeetCode problem. I was later told I was rejected because my technical skills were okay, but I didn't show enough mentoring experience, and my previous project wasn't large enough for their needs. I understood the rejection reasons, but I wish the hiring manager had asked follow-up questions to make it clearer what experience they were looking for. My failure to ask clarifying questions was a key issue, although communication should be a two-way street. I also never found out the salary range despite asking. Given this, I likely won't interview with Highspot again.

This was my interview process back in 2022, I never added a review here and think this would help potential applicants. Insanely lengthy interview process, Recruiter Screen: 30 mins not a big problem HM Screen: 1 hr with coding questions - not too bad after that they will give you a take home assignment which for an entry level engineer would take good 12 hours to complete (note to self: never do take home assignments for a company, waste of time). Interview loop: standard 4 interview loop, however the planning was so unstructured. I was in east coast and interviewers in west coast, the interview time for me was from 12 PM to 8 PM. Not 4 interviews one after another with a 10 min break, rather it was like 12:00 to 12:50 then 2:00 to 2:50, 4:00 to 4:50 and final was at freaking 7 to 7:50. And they rescheduled the interview that was at 4 to 4:50, multiple times during the day of interview, first they said they are moving it to another day and then moved it to another time on same day. This was very unprofessional, the JD never specified that this was a Frontend only role, I applied to it assuming it was Full Stack and I was never interested in Frontend only roles and thus in the end I mentioned it in all my interviews as the interviews were frontend heavy questions. Abysmal is the word that describes the interview process, I spend 12+ hr on the take home assignment and around 8 hours on interview process for a role that I didn't want in the end.
