Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Highmark.
Project Manager
The interview process consisted of 3 rounds: an initial HR interview (30 min), followed by a Manager interview (30 mins), and concluding with a Director level interview (30 mins). The interviews covered technical and situational experiences, as well as team dynamics, with a strong emphasis on customer and vendor relations. We also discussed established best practices for Project Management and soft skills.
- Describe your approach to managing projects where the objectives or requirements are unclear.
- How would you deal with a situation where project ambiguity is high?
Project Manager
Don't expect much from Highmark regarding follow-up. They don't update candidates on next steps, leaving them hanging. I interviewed for two roles. After an initial screening call, the recruiter set up a hiring manager interview. It went well, and the HM seemed impressed, but I never heard back. Communication was poor between the HM and recruiter, and they never closed the loop. If you interview here, get clear communication details on the first call.
- Tell me about yourself.
- Can you describe how your experience aligns with this role?
- Can you tell me about the projects you have managed previously?
Project Manager
The interview process was pretty straightforward. After submitting my resume, I got a call from HR within about a week. They set up an onsite interview for the next week, which was mostly about seeing if I was a culture fit. The whole thing lasted about an hour. Apparently, I was the first person they interviewed for this role, and they said I'd hear back in three weeks. And sure enough, I got an offer exactly three weeks later.
- How would you approach getting acquainted with your colleagues?
