After applying in different ways, I was contacted to set up an interview. The interview itself was an all-day event with other candidates, mostly college seniors but also someone already working at Highmark. The staff present were mostly long-term senior IT employees and some recent hires in the program. The role was a rotational program sponsored by the CIO, with 6-month stints in 4 departments (e.g., Windows/Linux server support, networking, app analysis/development) and a planned promotion to management. After an initial networking session and introductions, we toured the facilities. I then had two interviews with managers from hardware departments, where they seemed to appreciate my stories about relevant school projects and internships. We had lunch with a recent program hire, and the day ended with a group Q&A. I clarified the hiring criteria regarding a 3.5 GPA, confirming that my 4.0 major GPA but lower cumulative GPA would be acceptable. Later, a recruiter called with an offer of $55K. I expressed interest but wanted to confirm the GPA policy as I'd read it was a strict cumulative rule and I didn't want the offer rescinded. The recruiter said she'd check. I missed her callback while working and couldn't reach her despite calling for weeks. I accepted another job offer and forgot about it. A month later, I received a letter stating the offer was rescinded due to no response.

It was a 4-round process. The first two rounds were with other Business Analysts, followed by a round with a QA person, and then a final round with the Manager. The BA rounds focused heavily on my past work experience and the projects or products I'd worked on. The QA round involved questions about black box testing, white box testing, and other testing concepts. The Manager round was mainly about my experience and assessing how well I'd fit into the company culture.

This interview process was pretty fast compared to others I've heard about. It involved a single phone screen and then an onsite interview with the hiring manager. They seem to be good at identifying talent quickly using situational questions. It's the usual setup where a third-party company handles the initial screening before you meet with the actual hiring manager for the onsite.
