Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Hibu.
Software Engineer Intern
First we had an aptitude test and then a technical round covering SQL SERVER, OOP's concepts, Data Structure, and Java. After that, there was a Manager Round where we discussed company standards and my area of interest. Finally, an HR Round happened, and after about 10 days, I got a call for onboarding.
- Can you tell us about SQL SERVER, Java, and C++?
- What are your thoughts on SQL SERVER?
- What are your thoughts on Java?
Senior Software Engineer
I found out about hibu from a recruiter who gave me the scoop on the company and the role, and mentioned the hiring manager. After the recruiter sent my resume, I had a 30-minute chat with the hiring manager about my background and the team's tech stack. Then, I scheduled an in-person interview. Since I was also screening for a second role similarly, I had interviews for both in a 4-hour block. I met with each hiring manager and then two groups of their employees, who mostly asked me technical questions. One manager had me code on a whiteboard, and one employee group had me code on paper.
- I was presented with a complex challenge requiring the design of an algorithm to satisfy specific requirements, with a particular emphasis on meeting stringent constraints for both memory and space complexity. The difficulty lay in achieving both simultaneously, as I could only meet one or the other with the solutions I considered.
Software Engineer Intern
I had a phone screen with someone from the company who asked about my background and projects, and to rate my programming skills. Then I went onsite to their Waltham office for 4 interviews: 2 technical and 2 behavioral. They gave me an offer the next day.
- Please rate your proficiency in programming languages like JAVA, C++, C, PHP, Javascript, and HTML on a scale of 1 to 10.
- For an array containing both positive and negative integers, identify the subsequence that yields the largest sum.
