Account Representative
There were 4 steps in the interview process. The onboarding took over 6 months, which felt like a long time for this kind of job. The interviews happened in different cities around the area, which made it seem like they were checking how loyal people were and if they could handle driving before even offering the job.
- What makes you want to pursue a career in outside sales?
Account Representative
Recruiter called me on the phone a couple times. She knew I was a top sales executive, so she passed me up the chain. Then a phone interview with someone from across the country while I was working in the field. My answers weren't great because I had a deal to close. Many weeks passed, no call back. I reached out and got an email saying the position was filled by someone more qualified. Two months later, another recruiter called about meeting the regional director. I told her I'd been rejected. She said they recruit year-round by phone, but a real office in my city wanted to meet me, so I agreed.
- What motivates your transition from your current industry to advertising with YellowBook?
Account Representative
Had a screening with HR where they laid out the job details, pay structure, commission and benefits, plus the training setup. I didn't get asked much then. Next up was the hiring manager. We talked about the products and what the day-to-day looks like. Manager seemed to really want someone who could work on their own with minimal oversight and was a self-starter. Sounded like they'd had bad experiences with people who slacked off before. The base pay is so low, I don't see how you wouldn't hustle to sell, but maybe that's just me.
