Sales and Operations
It was pretty simple and easy going. Had three rounds of interview. Just intro and basic questions as it’s an entry level position. No previous industry experience required. Just confidence and communication.
- Can you give us a brief introduction?
Sales Representative
I had a phone chat with a recruiter first. It was chill and lasted about 30-40 mins, just talking about my background and what the job was about. Then, about 10 days later, the branch manager called to chat briefly and set up an in-person meeting. That interview was also pretty informal, lasting about 45 minutes, more of a conversation. The branch manager was cool and professional. I made sure to say I was really interested. They said they'd let me know about the next steps. A few days after that, we scheduled a third interview, this time with the district sales manager too. It was also informal and conversational, lasting about an hour. I re-iterated my strong interest and asked about the timeline for a decision and if I'd hear back either way. They assured me I would. About 10 days after that, I followed up with the branch manager for an update. They said they were wrapping things up and would be in touch soon. Two weeks went by with no word. I'd actually reached out to the district sales manager three times by email and text before this, and never got a reply, which was a big red flag for me. So, about three weeks after the third interview, I sent one more email asking for an update and saying I was still interested. The recruiter got back to me within 24 hours, thanking me for the follow-up, but said they'd decided to go in a different direction, even though they liked my skills. So, the whole thing took nine weeks from start to finish. I appreciated the recruiter's email, and I'm fine with not getting the job, but I really think I wouldn't have heard anything if I hadn't followed up myself. Overall, it wasn't terrible, but it was disappointing that they didn't keep their word on communication, pretty much like other big companies.
- What prompts your desire to switch from your present industry?
Sales Representative
First, I had a phone interview with the recruiter. The job hours and sales quota seemed tough, but then things really shifted after a few months, with sales quotas doubling. It honestly felt like they weren't upfront about what the job would really be like compared to what they said.
- What is your knowledge of the equipment?
