Even though I got an offer and accepted it, I'm still getting rejected. This has been the worst interview experience of my career. You might be wondering why, given I received and accepted an offer. It's because this company has something called a Works Council (Betriebsrat in German), which can nullify a signed contract based on subjective reasons without explanation. This is exactly what happened to me after completing 5 stages, investing my time and effort, getting an offer, accepting it, and signing the contract. These Works Councils are like unions, backed by the government, but they're not accountable for their decisions and can be very biased, as seen with HelloFresh's Council. They actually invalidated all new hire contracts that same month for no clear reason, other than, in my opinion, to assert their presence. They claim to 'ensure fairness in hiring' but don't define it. What's worse, no one in the company can challenge their decisions. Therefore, if you value your time and effort, avoid applying to this company because there's no guarantee you'll get the job even after signing the contract, and they won't give you any reasons.

I got a recruiter call for a job. The process had a take-home test where I had to make a PR. Then there were technical and system design interviews. The recruiter said the test would be graded in 48 hours and I'd get an update. I followed up four times, but she only replied once after a bank holiday and then ghosted me, so I didn't know how I was doing. The test was supposed to take five days, but I finished it in three, with tests, docs, and code comments. Because the recruiter was so bad at communicating, I wasted time and couldn't focus on other interviews.

I interviewed at HelloFresh in Sydney, Australia back in February. The process started with a recruiter phone screen where I was asked typical behavioral questions and some about my technical background. After that, I had a conversation with the Director of Engineering where we went through my CV and they asked some pretty in-depth questions about the technologies I'd listed. The final stage was a System Design plus Cultural fit interview, which lasted about 1.5 hours. The first 30 minutes were focused on system design, and the rest of the time was spent discussing how I work within a tech team, like my opinions on collaboration and tech debt. Overall, it was a really great interview experience; everyone I met was super friendly and helpful. My advice is to go in with an open mind and show that you're enthusiastic about learning.
