Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at HelloFresh.
Talent Acquisition Specialist
The interview process for this role was pretty standard, with three interview rounds. There was a case study that they gave very little time to complete. They also wanted to see my Excel skills, which seemed odd since you don't really need them to succeed in this job. I also noticed a distinct lack of enthusiasm during all the interviews, which made me question if people are actually happy working here. The communication from my main contact was often rude and impersonal; while templates are fine for efficiency, a little personalization goes a long way. I will give them credit for calling to reject me after the final rounds and providing helpful feedback, which is rare these days. Overall, the candidate experience could definitely be better.

Talent Acquisition Partner
I had a call with a recruiter who was also the hiring manager for me. Then, I was given a take-home test to check my sourcing and Excel skills. After that, there was a competence/behavioural interview with two technical recruiters. The final step was an interview with the Director of TA for Tech.
- Suppose a Principal Engineer rejected an offer. How would you analyze the search process and adjust your strategy?
- What would you learn from a rejected Principal Engineer offer, and how would you change your approach?
- If a Principal Engineer declined an offer, what insights would you gain from the search, and what adaptations would you make?
Staffing Associate
I was ghosted after a second round interview. My second interview was very strange. I got on the Google Hangout and no one was on so I let the recruiter know right away, but they claim someone was on the meeting at that time. Anyways, I reschedule and keep in mind I took PTO to interview and finally do my second interview. I lived in the same state as the interviewer and tried to build rapport around that and the response was, "that's awkward". I am not sure what is so awkward about two people living in the same place. After that, I never heard anything back. Not a declination email, nothing. I will say my first call with the recruiter was great she was very knowledgeable. Not sure if something fell through the cracks, but ghosting is unprofessional. I got a weird taste in my mouth after the second interview and ultimately didn't see myself fitting in with that team.
- Can you describe how you've used Pivot Tables in Excel?
