Data Analyst
The hiring manager focused mainly on behavioral and situational topics related to stakeholder management and collaboration. The discussion centered around how I would onboard business users to analytics tools, prioritize competing requests, drive dashboard adoption, and identify areas for personal improvement. The conversation emphasized communication, decision-making approaches, and working effectively with cross-functional teams, rather than delving into technical details.
- How would you onboard stakeholders, and how do you prioritize competing tasks?
- How do you ensure dashboard adoption?
- What is an area you want to improve?
Data Analyst
I applied online and had to answer some questions. I made sure my answers were thorough and also sent a cover letter. I got rejected pretty quickly, within hours. While I understand I might not have been the best fit or skilled enough, my resume was very well-tailored to the job description, which I double-checked. The quick rejection makes me suspect it was either due to unstated requirements, some form of discrimination based on unspecified factors, or a significantly lower salary offer than the market rate in Berlin. I always research typical salaries on Glassdoor and other sites for similar roles. It would be better if companies were transparent and didn't waste applicants' time.
- Can you confirm you have a minimum of 5 years of full-time analytics experience?
- Do you possess at least 5 years of experience working with Python, SQL, or R?
- Could you elaborate on your proficiency with a data visualization tool like Looker or Tableau?
Data Analyst
I had a call with a recruiter to go over my experience and past projects. After that, there was a call with another data analyst where they asked me SQL questions. I didn't get to the next stages, so I don't know what else is involved. The SQL questions weren't too hard, like standard easy/medium stuff. But the interviewer wasn't really helpful with feedback, just said I was close but didn't understand the question right, and that was it.
- What's the average metric per user?
