First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Heartland Retirement Group.
Sales Agent
The process was straightforward from the start. I got an initial call from the head of HR, and we had a good chat. They set up an interview for the very next day. I went in, completed some paperwork, and then met with the manager in the conference room for a one-on-one meeting. I felt it was a really open and relaxed conversation.
- Can you tell me about the management style that works best for you?
Sales Representative
The interview process was basically them selling me the job. They left out of the job posting that the position was 100% commission which was very frustrating. The interviewer also made very unprofessional comments such as putting on my “big girl pants”.
- Tell me about your previous sales experience.
Sales Agent
The interview process was good and structured. HR confirmed and reminded me via text. The Managing General Agent interviewed me, was professional, asked a lot of questions, and let me ask questions too. I think it's a great company. They said they would call me in two days to follow up.
- Could you describe your familiarity with our product line?
Sales Representative
The interviewers were super upfront about the job duties and what they expect, which was awesome. You can tell they're really passionate about their work. The first interview was about an hour long. The second interview involved a 30-minute shadow with another agent, which was really helpful. I liked that we got to meet a lot of people in the branch to get a real feel for the culture.
- What drives you?
- What is your motivation?
