Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Hearst.
Assistant Manager
It was a pretty standard interview process. I had a few phone calls over about a month, then one in-person group interview at the end with the team I'd be working with. I felt comfortable by the time I got to the office for the final interview.
- Can you explain why you believe you are a suitable candidate for Hearst?
Head of Department
Had a call with recruiting, then a call with the line manager, and then a call with cross-department team members where we discussed CV and situational questions. Overall it was friendly. However, after finishing the whole process and chasing for updates/feedback, I was ghosted by the recruitment team. My take is that if a company doesn't respect candidates, they won't respect employees.
- Can you share something about yourself that is not detailed on your CV?
Manager
The HR was upfront during the hiring journey, though scheduling with the internal team was a hurdle, which extended the timeline. Interactions with the team members felt distant, and they seemed uninterested, with communication lacking engagement. During the final stages, three out of six interviewers were unavailable when I arrived on-site, leading me to speak with less experienced team members who weren't prepared with questions. I later connected with two of the missing interviewers via call over the following two weeks. I was informed things were generally positive, and discussions about transition plans took place. However, I haven't received any update on the hiring decision since then.
- Can you share some typical behavioral and conversational questions you were asked?
