The initial phone interview was great, the interviewer was super chill and it was a positive vibe. But the in-person interview was the total opposite. The managers were really unfriendly and unprofessional. Instead of asking about my qualifications for the job, they drilled me about my college stuff. They didn't care about my customer service skills or that I'm a self-starter; they were more into why I'm not in school anymore or why I left my last job. I felt like I had to defend myself for leaving a terrible, toxic work environment. Not getting an offer just confirmed that this place would be a bad scene too. Plus, the employees seemed stressed and annoyed with the dogs. In the back, the AC was freezing, and they bathed the dogs in cold water. I don't know if that's how they do it everywhere, but it felt really uncomfortable. During the "skills test," I was basically ignored, and the groomer only chatted with other staff. Seriously, don't bother.

Had two phone screens and two in-person interviews. The first two interviews were pretty simple, and they told me they wanted to hire me for the next available spot and wouldn't interview anyone else. Three months later, I got a text saying a position opened up and they asked how soon I could quit my current job. I said immediately, and they said I'd meet with the hiring manager for a quick job overview. After the interview, she said she'd interview others?! Why did they tell me the next job was mine and ask when I could leave my other job?! So disappointing and unprofessional. I could have been jobless because they made me think I had the job right away. A complete waste of my time and effort.

I applied online for the Dog Bather position at the Manhattan beach location, including a cover letter detailing my previous experience and my resume. I also added a link to a video of me bathing a dog, though I'm unsure if it was reviewed. Three days later, I received an email scheduling an interview. The phone interview, lasting 45 minutes, went really well. The interviewer, Jennifer, was very pleasant. I was then scheduled for an in-person interview with Destiny at the Marina Del Ray location for the very next morning. This interview took 30 minutes and was essentially a repeat of the phone interview. I ended up spending 3.5 hours there, interacting with the staff and completing a skills test. I got to know some of the employees, and the job offer came the following day around 6 pm.

I did a lot of research on Healthy Spot before applying. After moving to California from Texas, where I had previous experience as a dog bather and in boarding/daycare, I knew HS was the place for me. I submitted my resume with a cover letter detailing my background and aspirations, and I received a call within days. The next step was a phone screening with recruiter Jennifer H. that lasted about 45 minutes. We discussed the role, my qualifications, and had a very friendly conversation. Jennifer's warm demeanor eased my initial nervousness. My in-person interview took place at the MDR location where I had trained for a month before moving to Manhattan Beach. I wore business casual attire, with comfortable shoes. The entire in-person interview lasted 3.5 hours at MDR. It included an interview with Manager Destiny, which covered similar ground to the phone screening, a skills test to demonstrate my existing abilities, and a preview of areas for my development. I also spent time professionally interacting with potential colleagues and received valuable advice.
