Director
I applied and then spoke with the internal recruiter. She was great and thought I would be a good fit. I didn't make it to a second interview because I lacked leadership experience. It felt like a waste of my time and research into the company. It was probably a good thing though, as an SVP who only cares about KPIs and not about people or cultural fit likely would have been a bad boss. It's lazy to not even spend 30 minutes talking to someone with years of industry experience.

Software Engineer
This was one of the most frustrating and pointless interview experiences I’ve had. After spending time preparing for and completing two rounds — including a technical interview — I was told the role was being "placed on hold indefinitely." Which is code for: "we’re wasting your time but won’t admit we never planned to hire anyone." If you value your time, avoid this company. The technical interview was nearly impossible to get through due to an extreme language barrier. The interviewer spoke with such a thick accent that I had to ask multiple times just to understand what he was saying, and even then, the communication felt one-sided and broken. It was clear he also struggled to understand me. When an interview is supposed to be about evaluating technical competence, basic mutual understanding is a minimum requirement. HealthStream failed that standard completely. The company appears heavily biased toward offshore or foreign candidates. There was no attempt to ensure clear communication or a fair playing field for domestic applicants. If you're an American developer expecting a straightforward, professional interview with fluent communication, you’ll likely be disappointed. This felt like they were going through the motions for compliance while quietly favoring imported labor, not actually looking to hire.
- Can you explain what dependency injection is?
Product Management Director
It was a typical interview process. Started with a recruiter interview, then the hiring manager, then a committee, and finally a presentation. The vibe was friendly, and I got good, consistent feedback about the process and what was next until they said I'd hear back soon about a final decision. I was really into this job because the company seemed great and the people I met were awesome. But after the last step, they just ghosted me. No rejection email, no feedback on my interviews or presentation, just a 'we'll get back to you,' and then silence. Super disappointing. I thought about following up, but honestly, it felt like it spoke volumes about the organization.
- Can you walk me through your product management approach and typical responsibilities?
- What specific tools and data do you leverage to guide your product decisions?
Patient Experience Interviewer
It was a pretty simple interview process that included a pronunciation test and a typing test. It can be a little nerve-wracking if you're not expecting it and are already nervous. I actually enjoyed my interview though. The office building was very nice, and the people were very friendly; they welcomed me and my interview jitters. Overall, it was a good interview. I think anyone who has the opportunity will definitely love HealthStream.
- Can you share an instance where you had a disagreement with an employer, what led to that feeling, and how you handled it?
