First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Healthcare Consultancy Group.
Scientific Associate
Recruiter was professional and communicative throughout my application process. The human engagement was honestly refreshing in the midst of very automated processes for hiring. I’d be receptive to applying again in the future once I get some more experience in the field.
- Why are you interested in a career in a healthcare or medical communications agency?
Medical Writer
I had a phone call with talent acquisition, then a 1st interview with the team. Following that was a writing test that had to be completed within 3 days. After the writing test, there was supposed to be a 2nd interview with the team, but HCG didn't move forward after the writing test. I got feedback about 3 weeks later after I followed up, which is really poor. There was little feedback on how to improve or why the decision was made. It's a shame to put in about 5 hours of work and get no meaningful feedback. It looks like others have had similar experiences, which suggests a long-standing problem that I'm sure HCG wouldn't want to project to potential employees. HCG can do better, and should.
- What qualities do you find admirable in a coworker?
- Describe your approach to onboarding a new client or account.
Senior Medical Writer
The interview process was pretty standard. Started with a phone call with the recruiter, then I had a ~45 min interview with two directors. After that, there was a take-home test where I had to summarize a trial in 10 slides. Unfortunately, I haven't heard back after submitting the test, even though I've followed up a few times.
- Could you tell me why you are looking to leave your current role?
- What types of deliverables have you worked on?
- Do you have any other standard questions for us?
Medical Associate
The interview process included an initial ~20 minute HR call where they went over background questions, explained the position and process, and outlined all the steps, which was very helpful. Following that, there was a 1-hour editing assessment using a ppt slide, with quick turnaround usually same-day. After a 3-day assessment involving summarizing a clinical trial in a ppt, interviews were scheduled. These began with a 45-minute writing assessment to produce an abstract for a paper. The main interviews lasted 3 hours, consisting of 6 separate 30-minute conversations with members of the medical/scientific team from various recruiting agencies. These interviews were quite casual, feeling more like conversations, and everyone was easy to talk to. HR was very supportive and always responded promptly, initiating calls or sending assessments on time.
