Got a call from someone on staff to come to an open house at a hotel conference room with my resume. The place was packed with over 150 people for different jobs like Admin and faculty. They asked everyone the same questions about our name, position, and why we were there. It took forever, over an hour. Then, they split us up based on who they wanted to move forward with and set up a time for a real interview/teach-back, which was about a week later. The teach-back and interview part went really smoothly and they were super clear about everything. It was a group interview, but it felt like a rotation where different staff members asked us individual questions. Most of us heard back within a few days about the decision. Honestly, the whole interview thing was easy and actually kind of fun. For a new campus, they were really on top of things and organized.

I applied for a Full Time Instructor position through the Heald Intranet site, coming from an Adjunct role. My supervisor reached out within a week, and we met to discuss my resume. Following that, I was asked to deliver a 15-minute sample lesson plan to a panel of Instructors, Program Directors, and the AA Director. I used a whiteboard and a handout, actively engaging them like students and encouraging feedback. They seemed impressed, and I received positive comments and questions. My previous adjunct experience on another campus and a strong recommendation from my supervisor there were beneficial, alongside my qualifications and enthusiasm for creating a great classroom experience and adhering to company policies. I was then offered the position, with a starting salary determined by corporate based on my experience and education level.

I was first contacted by a recruiter to set up a phone interview. The call was with a regional director who had trouble with English and was in a rush to go to Mexico. I also have a part-time job and was trying to schedule around it. The director wasn't flexible, so I had to take the call in my car outside my job during a really hot day in Fresno. I was supposed to have a face-to-face interview the next day, but it got cancelled because the director decided I wasn't a good fit after our phone chat. It felt unprofessional; they could have at least given me a chance to meet in person with someone else.

They asked me to come in as soon as possible, which was the very next day. I was excited when I arrived. Initially, the interview felt like they were selling me on the job, focusing on the company's mission, goals, and vision. However, after being hired, the interview process intensified. Currently, it involves an interview with the president of the school or the senior director of admissions, followed by one or two interviews with senior admissions staff.
