First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Headspace.
Software Engineer
The first round was a phone screen. The recruiter was a little late, but it was otherwise a pretty standard call. It was disappointing though, because the recruiter mentioned that the job posting wasn't accurate about in-office expectations anymore. The second round was a Karat interview, which I hope to never do again. The interviewer seemed really focused on just moving through the process quickly and wasn't really paying attention to what I was doing, which I found distracting.
- Can you explain basic REST API concepts?
- Could you solve some easier LeetCode problems?
Software Engineer
The second stage of the interview process at Headspace was with a company called Karat. They use a third party for interviews. A live person asked me system design questions, and then we did a coding challenge. Scheduling with Karat was super easy, and the interviewer was really nice and helpful.
- Tell me about system design for various scenarios.
Software Engineer
Got a ping from a recruiter, who then sent my resume to the manager. I had a chat with the manager about culture fit and the role itself. Then, I did a live coding challenge with unit tests. I've heard some candidates get simple LeetCode problems and have to do more than one. After that, it was a System Design interview with a lead engineer. In my case, I also spoke with upper management. I've heard that sometimes there's a take-home project too. Everything went really well, and everyone was great to talk to.
- Tell me about a situation where you had a different opinion from another engineer and how you handled it.
- Can you solve some easy LeetCode style coding problems?
- Are you able to solve more than one LeetCode style coding problem?
