It was a waste of time. Even with all the skills they listed, they offered a mediocre salary and blamed it on experience, which is strange because they hire freshers who obviously don't have experience. They really just wanted to know if I'd work for a low salary. They mentioned during the phone interview that they could offer a better salary to a good candidate, but even with good communication and knowledge, they offered 12k, saying it would increase after 3 months. That's just their company policy after the probation period anyway, so they weren't actually doing me a favor. That's just standard practice. They aren't trying to help.

Telephonic Face to Face. I'm no expert, but since nobody else has responded and your interview might be imminent, I will. I presume there must be a reason why you want to apply to the role, because small business start-ups are riskier than established businesses. One possibility is that you might buy into their vision and want to be a part of the growth that you can see coming. Or you might respect the business owner and the atmosphere in the team and feel like you can work well with there and share their enthusiasm. Those are the things that I'd want to emphasize. And the article advises incorporating a bit about you and what you bring to the role. In a small company, you could have a big impact to their business in bringing in new skills or ideas that they don't have yet - talk about those!
